Mizzou gives up 30 runs to get swept by No. 2 Arkansas in doubleheader action

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KMIZ)
The Mizzou baseball team's pitching woes followed them down to Fayetteville, over the weekend. The Tigers remain winless in the Southeastern Conference in 2025, after getting swept by No. 2 Arkansas in doubleheader action on Sunday.
Skipper Kerrick Jackson's team got out-scored 51-9 through three games against the Razorbacks. The Tigers have now given up a total of 149 runs through 12 conference games. The group sits at 11-20 overall in 2025 and 0-12 in SEC play.
In game one, MU took an early two-run lead over Arkansas, courtesy of a Cameron Benson RBI single to left field and a Cayden Nicoletto RBI single to right field. However, it didn't take long for the Razorback bats to get going. No. 2 Arkansas responded with a run in the home half of the first inning and held a lead over Mizzou by the time the second inning was over. After that, the home team never looked back.
Tiger starter Brady Kehlenbrink only pitched 1.1 innings, as he gave up four earned runs on three hits. However, St. Elizabeth alum Brock Lucas was charged with the loss for his 2.0 innings of work, where he gave up eight earned runs on nine hits. All four of MU's pitchers gave up a run in game one.
Game two felt eerily similar.
Mizzou got out to a one-run lead in the first inning, after Keegan Knutson scored on an Arkansas error. However, a five-piece from the Razorbacks in the home half of the first inning just about did the job.
Pitcher Tony Neubeck made his first start in more than 700 days, but only lasted 0.2 innings, as he gave up five earned runs on four hits. He was charged with Sunday's game two loss. Jackson blew through two more pitchers, before finally putting Nicoletto, a first baseman, on the mound. He ended up being the only MU pitcher to not give up a run.
Up next - Mizzou will hit the road for midweek action against SIUE on Tuesday, April 8 at 6 p.m.
