COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Mizzou baseball team took out all the frustrations of Southeastern Conference play on Arkansas-Pine Bluff, on Tuesday night. The Tigers trounced the Golden Lions, 25-10, in seven innings to snap a three-game losing streak.

With the win, MU improved to 10-17 overall, still remaining 0-9 in SEC play, and will hope to take the two-game series sweep on Wednesday against the Golden Lions.

Eight Tigers registered at least one RBI in the overwhelming victory, but shortstop Jackson Lovich led the charge at the dish. He ended up with a game-high eight RBIs, as he went 3-for-4 at the dish with one home run. True freshman third baseman Chris Patterson was right behind hime with four RBI of his own in the win.

The 15-run win marks the first time that Tiger baseball has posted at least 20 runs since March 2 of 2024, when skipper Kerrick Jackson's team defeated Northern Kentucky 28-10.

The Tigers have struggled on the hill, as of late, as the pitching staff has an ERA that is hovering around 8.00. Despite the win, the group did still allow Arkansas-Pine Bluff to plate 10 runs.

Blair Oaks alum Wil Libbert earned the start on the mound for Coach Jackson, but didn't necessarily have the night he would've hoped. He let four earned runs go on seven hits, but did manage to get himself out of some jams with seven strikeouts.

After he exited the game, Mizzou brought out right-handed pitcher Josh Kirchhhoff, who ultimately ended up getting the win to improve to 2-0 on the season. He pitched for 2.0 innings and allowed six earned runs on one hit.

Left-hander Kadden Drew finished out the game for the Tigers. He was the only pitcher to come out with a clean inning, as he pitched in the seventh and allowed two hits.

Up next - Mizzou will look to sweep the two-game series against UAPB on Wednesday, April 2. First pitch is set for 7 p.m. at Taylor Stadium.
