No. 1 LSU baseball completes sweep against Mizzou

BATON ROUGE, La. (KMIZ)
No. 1 LSU overpowered Mizzou baseball for the third day straight in Baton Rouge, on Sunday, to complete the series sweep over the CoMo Tigers on SEC opening weekend.
The Bayou Bengals posted runs in four of the first five innings to complete the three-game sweep over skipper Kerrick Jackson and company, coming out on top 10-5 in the finale.
In the opening frame, alone, LSU scored four times after the first of Ethan Frey's three hits on the day, producing the game's first run.
Down by four runs, Mizzou did manage to respond in the second inning. Brock Daniels single to start the frame, moved to second on a ground ball and then came home on Tyler Macon's RBI base hit to right field. Jackson's team closed the gap even more in the third inning, slicing the Baton Rouge Tigers' lead to just two, courtesy of a Kaden Peer sacrifice fly.
It looked like MU had a chance to topple a giant on Sunday, down just 5-3 in the fourth inning, but LSU put together a big fourth-inning rally for the third-consecutive day to seize complete control of the game for good.
Up next - Mizzou will return to Taylor Stadium on Friday, March 21 to open a three-game SEC series against Ole Miss. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
