Mizzou run-rules Kansas City to remain unbeaten in home stadium
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Mizzou softball team cruised to a 17-0, run-rule win over the Kansas City Roos on Sunday afternoon. With the dominant victory, head coach Larissa Anderson improved to 5-0 at home in 2025 and 16-13 overall.
The Tigers' 17 runs marked a season-best and highest run total for the program since putting up 20 runs against Fordham in 2024. That deluge of runs came courtesy of 10 hits, which is the eighth time this season that the team has posted that 10 hits or more.
Jefferson City alum Kara Daly led the charge at the plate for Mizzou. She went 2-for-2 with a career-best five RBI and two runs. The senior registered a sacrifice fly in the first inning to give MU a three-run advantage, then added on a two-run double to push the Tigers ahead by eight in the second inning. She capped off a stellar outing with a two-run home run in the third inning.
The local stars shined bright, on Sunday.
Tolton alum Madison Uptegrove hit her second home run of the season, on Sunday. The three-run knock put Anderson and company up by 11 runs over Kansas City and they only poured on more from there. Uptegrove finished with a career-best three rBI and scored twice to go with a walk in the win.
Taylor Ebbs and Madison Walker rounded things out for the Tigers with three RBI apiece.
Marissa McCann picked up the win in the circle for MU. She threw three scoreless innings of not hit softball, including five strikeouts. That victory improved her to 7-4 on the season.
Up next - Mizzou will host its first midweek matchup of the 2025 campaign, as Illinois will be in Columbia on Tuesday, March 18. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
