Columbia College women’s hoops wins fourth-straight AMC Tournament Championship

WALNUT RIDGE, Ark. (KMIZ)
For the fourth-straight season, the Columbia College women's basketball team hoisted a trophy and cut down nets in March. The No. 2-seeded Cougars topped No. 1-seeded Williams Baptists University, 81-75, on Monday night to secure, yet another, AMC Championship.
For a group of three standout seniors, who were born and raised in Missouri, this title cements their legacy even further at CC. That group has complied a 122-26 overall record, has now won four conference championships and will look to make another run in the NAIA Tournament.
It's fitting that those seniors led the charge in the win over the Eagles.
Senior Mallory Shetley, the program's all-time leading scorer, led the shooting attack with a game-high 25 points. The Bourbon, Missouri native also added on seven assists and five rebounds. Then, Tipton's own, senior Abby Backes played the role she's become so good at over the years: the facilitator. The guard racked up 10 assists on the night, along with one steal, three rebounds and a couple points.
Three other Cougars got into double-figures, on Monday night, as well. Mexico alum Mya Miller (19), Macon alum Lexi Miller (18) and Hickman alum Ashtyn Klusmeyer (10) all made big contributions to a 48 percent shooting night from the field.
