Mizzou women fall at Auburn, losing sixth-straight SEC game

AUBURN, Ala. (KMIZ)
Despite an attempt at a comeback late in the game, the Mizzou women's basketball team fell to Auburn 75-60 on Sunday evening.
With the loss, head coach Robin Pingeton and company's losing streak extended to six games. The team is now 11-10 overall in the 2024-25 campaign and 0-6 in Southeastern Conference action.
Despite the adversity, guard Grace Slaughter continues to shine in her sophomore campaign. She led scoring for the 10th this season, with 14 points and four rebounds in the loss to Auburn. Slaughter and Rock Bridge alum Averi Kroenke also each connected on a trio of triples in the first few minutes to give the Tigers a bit of momentum out of the gates at Neville Arena.
Mizzou went into halftime with a 13-point deficit, but MU did manage to give itself a chance after the break.
Guard Abbey Schreacke hit a big 3-pointer at the start of the third quarter, which ignited a 12-0 run for Coach Pingeton's team. However, Auburn quickly stifled the Tigers' offense and took a 50-38 lead going into the fourth quarter.
In the final 10 minutes of action, Mizzou did manage to cut Auburn's lead to seven points, but could never quite get close enough to complete a big comeback.
Up next - Mizzou will return home to host Mississippi State on Monday, Jan. 27. Tip off is slated for 7 p.m.
