Mizzou football lands commitment from former Penn State quarterback
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Mizzou football coach Eli Drinkwitz brought some competition into the quarterback room, on Sunday night.
The Tigers locked down a commitment from former Penn State backup quarterback Beau Pribula, after he took visits to Iowa, UCF and Ole Miss over the past few weeks. The former Nittany Lion will join veteran Drew Pyne, Sam Horn and a couple others in that room for the 2025 campaign.
During his time with Penn State, Pribula played in 24 games, throwing for 424 career yards, nine touchdowns and just one interception. He's dual threat, as well, as he rushed for 571 career yards and 10 touchdowns in his time in Happy Valley.
Pribula got an opportunity to help Penn State to victory in the second half of this season's Wisconsin game, as the Nittany Lions grabbed a 28-13 win. In that game, after starter Drew Allar went down with an injury, he went 11-of-13 for 98 yards and one touchdown. Overall, he ended the 2024 campaign with 275 yards and one touchdown.
According to On3's industry rankings, Pribula is the No. 4 ranked quarterback available in the portal. He will have two years of eligibility left to use in Columbia.
Drinkwitz's big addition at quarterback comes with the departure of starter Brady Cook, as he is now out of eligibility. As a starter, Cook led the Tigers to a 26-12 overall record, with an opportunity to add win No. 27 to that mark in the upcoming Music City Bowl.
Heading into the 2025 season, Coach Drink will be looking for someone to step into that role. There will be plenty of competition between Pribula, Pyne and Horn. However, Mizzou also has a five-star quarterback coming into its freshman class in Matt Zollers.
