Mizzou women’s basketball snaps win streak with loss to Oral Roberts
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Mizzou women's basketball's winning streak came to a screeching halt at five games, as the Tigers fell 76-63 to Oral Roberts on Wednesday night.
Head coach Robin Pingeton's team came into the game against the Golden Eagles leading the SEC and ranking fifth in the nation in 3-point percentage through the young 2024-25 campaign. However, the MU offense didn't see that same kind of success in Wednesday night's loss.
The Tigers shot 19 percent from 3-point range and 43 percent from the field, as Laniah Randle led the scoring charge with a team-high 21 points. Ashton Judd was the only other MU player to get into double-figures, coming up with 18 points.
Pingeton's team came out flat in the start of each half. In the first quarter, Oral Roberts went on an 18-8 scoring run. Then, in the third quarter, the Golden Eagles opened up the half with a 14-7 run.
Although Mizzou did get within one point multiple times in the loss, the Tigers could never get over the hump, as Pingeton and company never saw a lead.
Oral Roberts out-shot and also out-rebounded MU, 35-27.
Up next - Mizzou will look to get back in the win column on Sunday, Dec. 29 when Jackson Sate comes to Columbia. Tip off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
