Mizzou women dominate Northern Illinois in ninth win of the season
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
An energetic defensive performance and a good shooting night lifted Mizzou women's basketball to its ninth win of the season, on Sunday, as the Tigers thoroughly dominated Northern Illinois 94-55.
You can watch the full postgame press conference with head coach Robin Pingeton, as well as junior guard Ashton Judd and senior forward Laniah Randle in the video player below.
MU shot better than 50 percent from both the field and 3-point range, as three players got into double-digit scoring. Sophomore guard Grace Slaughter led the charge with her second 20-point outing of the season, finishing with a game-high 20 points.
Judd and Randle were the other two Tigers to get into double-digits with 16 and 13 points, respectively. Judd also added on nine boards, but graduate forward Angelique Ngalakulondi led the attack on the boards with a team-high 10 rebounds.
Pingeton's team limited the Huskies to just 44 percent shooting from the field and 23 percent shooting from 3-point range. Mizzou played with a whole lot of energy on the defensive end, forcing 17 turnovers and turning that into 29 points.
The Tigers were active from beyond the arc, as the group attempted 28 3-pointers in Sunday's win, but Pingeton's group also attacked the bucket, as MU out-scored NIU 34-32 in paint.
Up next - Mizzou will get a week-long break before returning to action against Lipscomb on Sunday, Dec. 15 at 3 p.m.
