Mizzou star Luther Burden declares for the NFL Draft
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Mizzou football fans have officially seen star wide receiver Luther Burden III take Faurot Field for the last time.
In a social media post, on Monday, the St. Louis native made the announcement that many had been expecting. He will be declaring for the 2025 NFL Draft.
"While this decision is a step toward my professional future, it is by no means the end of my relationship with Mizzou," he said in the post. "I will always carry a piece of this university with me, and I will continue to represent Mizzou with pride as I pursue my dreams."

Burden, arguably, changed the trajectory of Mizzou football with his commitment in Oct. of 2021. The five-star wideout had his choice of schools, but made, what many thought, was the unpopular choice. He decided to stay home in an effort to elevate Tiger football.
During his junior campaign, Burden was second on the team with 676 yards and a team-high six touchdowns.
His biggest season came as a sophomore, in 2023. In that Cotton Bowl season, the St. Louis native led Mizzou in receptions (86), receiving yards (1,212) and touchdown receptions (nine). That led him to a First-Team All-SEC selection and a Second-Team All-America nod. Burden was second in the SEC and ninth in the nation in receiving yards that season, while becoming just the eighth Tiger to reach the 1,000-yard mark for receiving in a single season.
The NFL Draft will take place in Green Bay, Wisconsin on April 25-27. As of now, Burden is the only Tiger that has announced his intent to head to the next level.
