Kansas City Chiefs win on another walk-off play to remain unbeaten
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)
If you can imagine any possible way the Kansas City Chiefs could win a football game, odds are they've done it in 2024. When things look the most bleak, the Chiefs always seem to find a way to pull out a win, as the group extended its win streak, which dates back to 2023, to 15 games.
KC remained the only undefeated team in the NFL, on Sunday, with a 16-14 win over the Denver Broncos. The 'W' came courtesy of the team's fourth walk-off play of the season, as linebacker Leo Chenal blocked the Broncos potential 35-yard game-winning try with one second left.
Needless to say, it was an absolute rollercoaster ride of a win for Kansas City.
After trailing for the entire game, the Chiefs finally took their first lead with a 20-yard field goal off the foot of Harrison Butker in the fourth quarter. But, Butker was busy the entire day, as the Chiefs only scored one touchdown in the win via a Patrick Mahomes pass to Travis Kelce in the second quarter.
Mahomes went 28/42 for 266 yards and one touchdown, on Sunday. His top target was actually running back Kareem Hunt, who finished with seven reception for 65 yards to compliment 35 yards on 14 carries.
It was far from pretty, but defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo's unit kept the Chiefs in the ball game, once again. The defense ended the day with two sacks, six tackles for loss and five quarterback hits. Safety Nazeeh Johnson led the attack with 10 total tackles, one sack and a tackle for loss.
Up next - Kansas City will hit the road to face the Buffalo Bills at 3:25 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 17.
