Mizzou gymnastics releases the 2025 slate
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Mizzou gymnastics released its 2025 slate, which will include four SEC home meets, on Monday morning.
Head coach Shannon Welker and company will look to capitalize on an eventful offseason by hunting for the program's fourth-ever NCAA Championship appearance. The Tigers will have quite a bit of experience on their side to try to get that task done, too. Ahead of the 2025 campaign, Coach Welker landed four transfers and brought in five new freshmen. In addition, the big offseason news came just weeks ago when two-time All-American and three-time All-SEC gymnast Helen Hu decided to return to the MU roster and use her final year of eligibility.
Mizzou also returned 12 members of the 2024 squad that ended the season in the NCAA Regional Final.
The 2025 season will all kickoff with the annual Black and Gold exhibition meet on Wednesday, Dec. 18 at 11:30 a.m. inside the Hearnes Center.
The competition will start counting on Jan. 3 at 6 p.m. when Mizzou hosts a quad meet against Illinois State, SEMO and Ball State. Then, following that season opening meeting, the Tigers will hit the road to meeting Denver.
SEC action will begin right after that, when Welker and company meet one of the conference newcomers in Norman, Okla. The Tigers and the Oklahoma Sooners will battle on Jan. 17. After that, fans will get their first glimpse of conference action in the Hearnes Center, as the Kentucky Wildcats will be in Columbia at the end of Jan.
Mizzou will have a very tough road test to end the month of Jan. MU will take on the reigning national champion LSU Tigers in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Jan. 31. Then, Coach Welker and his crew will wrap up that road trip with a rivalry meet versus the Fighting Illini in Champagne, Illinois to begin the month of Feb.
On Valentine's Day, Mizzou will compete against its final non-conference competition of the season, as Alabama, Iowa and Illinois will all be in town for a quad meet.
The final four meets of the regular season will come against SEC competition, with two in Columbia and two away. You can find a full look at the regular season schedule below.
