Mizzou drops two spots in the latest AP Poll following gritty win over Auburn

KMIZ

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Despite a come-from-behind homecoming win against Auburn, the Mizzou football team dropped two spots in the latest AP Poll. The Tigers are now the No. 21 ranked team in the nation, after previously being ranked No. 19 in week eight.

Head coach Eli Drinkwitz and the Tigers also fell in the latest coaches poll, down one spot to No. 17.

The fall in both polls comes after the Tigers put a gritty mark in the win column against Auburn, on Saturday. Starting quarterback Brady Cook injured his ankle on the first drive of the game, went to the hospital, came back into the game and led his team to a comeback win from an 11-point deficit.

Cook led the Tigers on an 80-yard touchdown drive, plus a two-point conversion, on his first series back from the hospital to make it a three-point ball game, 17-14. Then, with less than two minutes left in the game, MU marched 95 yards down the field for the game-winning touchdown.

Backup quarterback Drew Pyne played in most of Saturday's game for Coach Drinkwitz. He ended the day 10/21 for 78 yards.

Mizzou was not the only SEC team to take a little bit of a tumble in Sunday's new AP Top-25. Texas fell four spots, after losing to Georgia and Alabama fell eight spots after a loss to Tennessee. However, the Tigers are the only SEC team to take a fall after getting a win.
