Chiefs place wide receiver Rashee Rice on injured reserve
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)
Kansas City's go-to receiver will miss at least four games, after the team placed him on the injured reserve, on Thursday.
Chiefs star Rashee Rice landed on the reserve after sustaining a knee injury, which took him out of Sunday's game against the Los Angeles Chargers. In the play that caused the injury, quarterback Patrick Mahomes collided with Rice's knee as they both chased a loose ball, following an interception.
Head coach Andy Reid had already ruled Rice out of Monday night's game against the New Orleans Saints, as the team still wants to put him through more testing once the swelling goes down.
KC emphasized in its weekly press conference that the training staff will not know more about the extent of Rice's injury and how long he will be out until next week. But, with his placement on the injured reserve, he will at least miss four games.
In his second season in the league, the Texas-native has led the Chiefs with 288 yards on 24 catches and ties for the team-high two touchdowns.
Up next - the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs will return home to host the New Orleans Saints on Monday Night Football. Kickoff is slated for 7:15 p.m.
