Mizzou running back earns first-career SEC weekly honor
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Mizzou running back Nate Noel earned conference recognition for his nearly 200-yard outing in the No. 11 Tigers' double overtime winner against Vanderbilt, on Saturday. The Southeastern Conference announced that the Appalachian State transfer is the SEC Co-Offensive Player of the Week, on Monday.
In MU's conference-opening win, Noel recorded a career-high 199 yards on 24 carries, including a 64-yard rush that fell just short of a touchdown. He also contributed in the passing game, catching three passes for eight yards.
It is the first time that Noel has earned an SEC weekly honor, as he is in the midst of his first season in the league.
So far, in his first season in Columbia, Noel is the third-ranked rusher in the conference, as he has recorded 441 yards on 69 carries, averaging 6.4 yards per run.
Up next - Noel and the Tigers will take some time to reset during their by week, before getting ready for the first road game of the season. Head coach Eli Drinkwitz and company will take on No. 20 Texas A&M on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 11 a.m. at Kyle Field.
