RECAP: No. 11 Mizzou football survives OT thriller to remain unbeaten into bye week

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The No. 11 Mizzou football team managed to scrape past unranked Vanderbilt in double overtime, on Saturday night, to improve to 4-0 to start 2024.

Although the record is as good as it can be at this point, head coach Eli Drinkwitz emphasized that this team is not where they want to be play-wise, yet.

"We got to go take a hard look at the Missouri Tigers and we got to figure out why we're not executing in the third downs in the red area, why we're not kicking field goals, why we're missing tackles, why we're busting assignments," he said.

Saturday night's thriller against Vanderbilt wasn't a pretty win, but a win, nonetheless. Game-after-game, the Tigers keep finding a way to get a 'W'.

Coach Drinkwitz said the bye week could not be coming at a better time, as his team will look to clean up some things before the first road trip of the season to meet Texas A&M on Oct. 5.

"Our standard's higher. We expect more, I expect more, um, you know, that's just kinda where we're at," quarterback Brady Cook said.
