Mizzou football slides four spots in AP Poll following double OT win against Vanderbilt

KMIZ

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Mizzou football team is 4-0 to start the 2024 season, but that perfect record did not come easily. The Tigers survived a big scare from unranked Vanderbilt on Saturday night, with a 30-27 win over double overtime.

MU scrapped its way to the program's eighth straight win, which is the nation's longest active win streak, but the struggle against a Commodore team, that came into the matchup 1-2, caused Mizzou to slide down four spots in the latests AP Poll. Head coach Eli Drinkwitz and company went from being ranked No. 7 to No. 11 in week five, which will be a much-needed bye week for his team.

It is the first time since week one that Mizzou has been ranked outside of the Top-10. However, Mizzou has not fallen outside of the Top-11 all season.

The Tigers will look to clean up a few things and get healthy in their week five bye, before facing their first road game of the season in week six.

Drinkwitz and his team will travel to College Station to take on No. 20 Texas A&M at Kyle Field on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 11 a.m.
