KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

In true rivalry fashion, the game between Kansas City and Cincinnati went down to the wire, on Sunday. Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker helped his team survive the Bengals with a 51-yard field goal, in the final seconds, to get a 26-25 win.

It was not a pretty win for head coach Andy Reid's team, by any means. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes went 18-for-25 for 151 yards and a couple touchdowns through the air, but also threw two interceptions. On the other side, Cincinnati QB Joe Burrow had a very efficient game at Arrowhead Stadium, as he threw for 285 yards, a couple of touchdowns and no interceptions.

The Bengals held a six-point lead over the Chiefs heading into halftime, but Coach Reid manage to dial up something special to take the lead after the half: a big man touchdown to offensive lineman Wayna Morris.

From there, the back and forth game continued. Burrow and company took the lead, once again, in the third quarter with a three-yard touchdown pass to Andrei Iosivas to make it 22-17.

The fourth quarter brought all the drama in Kansas City.

Defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo's group shined in the biggest moment, as corner Chammari Conner gave his team the lead, once more, courtesy of a 38-yard scoop-and-score touchdown.

With a little less than 10 minutes left, Cincinnati made things difficult for KC again, as kicker Evan McPherson nailed a 53-yard field goal to take a 25-23 advantage over the home team.

With just minutes left on the clock, Mahomes and company strung together a nine-play, 43 yard drive, which was helped along by a string of Cincinnati penalties, to get kicker Harrison Butker in field goal range. The kicker then nailed a 51-yarder to end the game and improve Kansas City to 2-0 on the season.

Mizzou alum Nick Bolton led the charge, defensively, with seven total tackles, five solo tackles and one tackle for loss.

Wide receiver Rashee Rice was the go-to guy for Mahomes, on Sunday. He caught five passes for 75 yards and one touchdown.

Up next - Kansas City will travel to Atlanta to take on the Falcons on Sunday Night Football. Kickoff is slated for 7:20 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 22.
