Missouri Sports Hall of Fame announces 2024 class
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Former Mizzou Tigers Chase Daniel, Ben Askren, Jake Jacobson and John Anderson headline the latest class of local legends who will be inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame. The organization's CEO and Executive Director Byron Shive revealed the entire 2024 class on Wednesday morning.
Chase Daniel set numerous Mizzou records over his career, recording a program-best 12,515 passing yards, 101 touchdown passes, a 68.0% completion percentage, 111 total touchdowns and 13,485 yards of total offense. The Mizzou quarterback legend led the Tigers to a 30-11 record over three seasons, two Big 12 Conference division titles and three bowl games, including a Cotton Bowl victory in 2008. The All-American also finished in fourth place in Heisman Trophy voting in 2007 before enjoying a 13-year career in the National Football League.
Ben Askren was a two-time NCAA Champion wrestler in 2006 and 2007, posting an undefeated 87-0 combined record during those two seasons. Mizzou's first four-time All-American also won a trio of Big 12 Conference titles and finished his MU career with a collegiate record of 153-8. The two-time Dan Hodge Trophy winner ended his career with the Tigers holding several program records, including 91 pins and 15 technical falls.
Jake Jacobson is considered the Father of Mizzou Gymnastics, serving as the head coach of the program from 1979-1999. Under his leadership, the Tigers made 13 NCAA Regional appearances and had an overall record of 229-198-1 during his tenure. Jacobson was also named Big Eight Conference Coach of the Year in 1990 and Big 12 Conference Coach of the Year in 1999.
John Anderson spent 25 years as an ESPN SportsCenter anchor before recently retiring. The Mizzou alum is returning to his alma mater to join the Missouri School of Journalism faculty to serve as the Leonard H. Goldenson Endowed Chair in Radio and Television Journalism.

The Missouri Sports Hall of Fame is also honoring the Elite 11 at its enshrinement ceremony. The Elite 11 is a group of former All-State athletes and standouts from Missouri high schools and colleges.

The Missouri Sports Hall of Fame Enshrinement Ceremony is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 20 at the Holiday Inn Executive Center in Columbia. The induction is slated to begin at 1 p.m.
