Mizzou soccer routs SEMO in shutout fashion

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Mizzou soccer team got back into the win column with a 5-0 win over Southeast Missouri State at Audrey J. Walton Stadium, on Sunday night.

The scoring started quickly for MU, as head coach Stefanie Golan's team netted four goals in the first half alone. Forward Kylee Simmons got the scoring started in the 11th minute and the flood gates opened from there.

Simmons, midfielder Leah Selm, midfielder Monica Brauner, forward Brianna Buels and forward Bella Carrillo all scored in the win against the Redhawks. Brauner's goal was the first of her Tiger career.

Mizzou goalkeeper Bella Hollenbach didn't have to fly around too much, as the Redhawks didn't manage a single shot on goal against MU.

With the in-state victory, Mizzou improved it's mark to 2-3-1 overall in 2024.

Up next - Golan and company will head to Durham, N.C. to face the Duke Blue Devils on Thursday, Sept. 12. It will be the last non-conference meeting before SEC action begins on Sept. 19 against Texas A&M.
