Mizzou reaches eight straight sellout crowds

KMIZ

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Mizzou Athletics announced on Thursday that the football program has extended its sellout streak at Faurot Field. Tickets for MU's Week 2 date with Buffalo are now officially sold-out.

Since tickets to Week 3's matchup against Boston College are already sold-out, Mizzou has reached eight straight sellout games, dating back to last season. As of Sept. 5, The Tigers will now play in front of a sellout crowd at five of their seven home games this season, leaving Vanderbilt (Sept. 21) and Arkansas (Nov. 30) as the only dates with limited tickets still remaining.

Last Thursday, Mizzou kicked off the 2024 season with the program's sixth-largest home-opening crowd in attendance, welcoming 62,621 fans to Memorial Stadium. The team said the lively environment helped fuel them to begin that game with a record-breaking start, scoring 21 points in less than six minutes of action.

"Just an unbelievable atmosphere at Faurot Field on a Thursday night," Eli Drinkwitz said at Tuesday's press conference. "The student section was unbelievable. They were loud. They were there early. They were pouring in as we were warming up. I thought, when the game kicked, our stands were full and that was just an awesome way for us to start fast. I appreciate the fans and all that they did to create a winning environment."

"It was great. We kind of carried off of what the fans had created last year," Mizzou center Connor Tollison said. "I think for them to just carry that on this year, I think it will only get better."

Kickoff for Saturday, Sept. 7's game against Buffalo is scheduled for 6 p.m.
