Mizzou football extends its sellout streak to six games

For the sixth-straight game, the No. 11 Mizzou football team will be playing in front of a sellout crowd at Faurot Field.
On Wednesday, MU Athletics announced that it had achieved its long-awaited goal of selling every single seat in Memorial Stadium. Much to the pleasure of head coach Eli Drinkwitz, who said thank you to fans on social media.
He's made a big push for this Mizzou fanbase to sellout this game. During his weekly radio show, on Tuesday night, he said it's all about showing the rest of the country what MU is made of, as not many SEC team sell out their non-conference season openers.
"I want the fans to show the rest of the country who we are and I want our team to show the rest of the country who we are," Drinkwitz said on Tuesday night.
With Memorial Stadium’s current capacity at 62,621, Thursday’s crowd will rank among the biggest in program history for a home-opener. Mizzou last eclipsed 60,000 for a home-opener in 2015.
The sellout streak reaches back to the 2023 season, when Coach Drink and company upset then-No. 15 Kansas State on Sept. 16. During that 11-2 campaign, MU sold out five-straight games for the first time since 1980.
The Tigers and the Racers kickoff at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug, 29.
