Mizzou soccer falls to No. 23 SLU

KMIZ

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Mizzou soccer team suffered its second loss of the season, on Sunday night, in a 2-0 shutout against No. 23 Saint Louis.

Head coach Stefanie Golan's team did put the pressure on early with shots from junior Keegan Good and seniors Leah Selm and Milena Fischer, but all were off the mark.

MU's best opportunity came in the 19th minute, when Good crossed the ball to junior standout Kylee Simmons, but the shot found the crossbar instead of the back of the net.

The Billikens opened up the scoring in the 38th minute and never looked back.

Mizzou actually led in total number of shots, 11-10, in the loss, as both sophomore Mia Lang and junior Bella Carillo each had late shots on goal, trying to spark a rally.

On a positive note, junior goalkeeper Bella Hollenbach recorded her most saves in a game with five deflections.

Up next - Golan and company will travel to Coral Gables to face Miami on Thursday, Aug. 29. Start time is at 6 p.m. CT.
