Mizzou defensive end suffers season-ending knee injury

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Mizzou football team announced that defensive end Darris Smith will miss the entire 2024 football season, after suffering a season-ending knee injury during practice on Tuesday.

"We are devastated by the injury to Darris," head coach Eli Drinkwitz said. "He was having an outstanding camp and was poised to have a great year. We will support Darris in his recovery and look forward to him returning stronger than ever."

The junior had just transferred to MU from Georgia ahead of the 2024 campaign, but will unfortunately not get to make his Tiger debut, quite yet.

During his time with the Bulldogs, Smith registered five total tackles in 2023 and even managed one tackle in Georgia's 2022 national championship win.
