Reports: Chiefs extend kicker Harrison Butker’s contract

KMIZ

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Kansas City Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker isn't going to be leaving KC any time soon. On Monday, the team and Butker agreed to terms on a four-year, $25.6 million contract extension, according to a report from NFL insider Ian Rapoport.

According to Rapoport, Butker's new deal also includes $17.8 million in guaranteed money.

The new terms will make the 29-year-old the highest paid kicker in the National Football League, after he helped kick Kansas city to three Super Bowls in his time in the red and gold.

Over the course of his seven seasons with the Chiefs, he has made about 89 percent of his field goal attempts and 94 percent of his point-after tries. He's had quite a few memorable moments in KC, including a record-breaking 57-yard field goal in the 2020 Super Bowl win over the San Francisco 49ers. However, that record-setting kick wasn't even his career long, as he knocked in a 62-yard field goal in 2022.

Butker and the Chiefs will kickoff the regular season on Sept. 5 against the Baltimore Ravens at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.
