Mizzou soccer shuts out Lindenwood in exhibition action

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Mizzou soccer team started off the 2024 slate with a 2-0 exhibition win over Lindenwood, on Monday night.

The win does not count towards the team's 2024 win-loss record, but it was the first chance head coach Stefanie Golan got to see her team in action before the regular season schedule begins on Thursday, Aug. 15.

Junior forward Kylee Simmons picked up right where she left off in 2023, scoring the first goal at Audrey J. Walton Stadium for the Tigers this season, to go up by one goal in the first period. During her sophomore year campaign, she led her team with 11 goals on the year and will look to follow up that effort in 2024.

MU's other goal was scored by Kansas City native Monica Brauner in the 33rd minute of Monday's contest.

Golan's team kept the Lions away from the goal the whole night, as Lindenwood notched just one shot on goal.

Up next - Mizzou will play in one more exhibition game before the regular season begins. The Tigers will travel to Elsah, Illinois to meet Wisconsin on Saturday, Aug. 10 at 11 a.m.
