Columbia College baseball standout transfers to Mizzou
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Evidently, there's no place like Columbia, Missouri for former Columbia College baseball standout Cayden Nicoletto. The Australia-native announced that he will be making the jump to Division I baseball and he'll do it less than 10 minutes from his former school.
On Wednesday night, the outfielder announced that he will be transferring to Mizzou for his senior season. The move comes after a standout junior campaign for the Cougars. After the 2024 season wrapped, he was a First-Team All-America and All-AMC First-Team selection, as he broke multiple program records with 87 hits, 27 home runs, 81 RBI and 193 total bases. He also tied the program's individual batting record in slugging percentage at .915 over the course of 211 total at-bats.
Nicoletto ranked third in the NAIA in 2024 with those 27 home runs in a single season. He led Columbia College in almost every statistical category (hits, RBI, home runs and slugging percentage).
The jump to SEC baseball adds another layer to quite a story for a player that started his collegiate career at North Iowa Area Community College.
In 2024, Nicoletto helped lead his Columbia College baseball team to a 39-16 overall record and a 19-2 mark in conference action. The Cougars fell just short of making it out of the NAIA Opening Round with a loss to No. 13 Tennessee Wesleyan University.
During his sophomore campaign with CC, in 2023, Nicoletto appeared in 54 games for the Cougars, starting in 53. He recorded 78 his with 19 doubles, four triples and 20 home runs. He had a team-high 61 RBIs, as well. As a result, he was an All-AMC First-Team selection, as well as a NAIA Second-Team All-American in 2023.
