Royals get swept by the Rangers after two-straight shutout losses
ARLINGTON, Texas (KMIZ)
With Sunday's 4-0 loss to the Rangers, Kansas City has now lost 11 out of its last 14 games, as the club's weekend series in Arlington ended with three-straight losses.
Skipper Matt Quatraro was not in attendance for his team's finale against the Rangers, citing 'personal matters.' The Royals said he would not be away from the team for very long - maybe a day or two.
Kansas City scored just two runs over the course of three games against Texas, both of which came in game one, on Friday night. In games two and three, KC totaled just five hits over the course of 18 innings of action.
On Sunday, Mizzou alum Max Scherzer threw five innings of one-hit baseball against Kansas City, as the Royals only mustered two hits, total. Scherzer earned the win for the Rangers to improve to 1-0 in 2024.
KC pitcher Alec Marsh didn't have his best outing, but also didn't have any run support in his loss, which dropped him to 5-5 overall. He threw for 5.2 innings and allowed three runs on eight hits, striking out four Rangers.
Kansas City is now 42-36 overall and has dropped down to third place in the American League Central standings. The Royals are 8.5 games back from the first-place Guardians and just one game back from the second-place Twins.
