RECAP: Mizzou softball wraps the 2024 season, says goodbye to a special group
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Mizzou softball team put together quite a run in the 2024 postseason. The Tigers played all of NCAA Regional and Super Regional action with their backs up against the wall, but still managed to get within one game of a trip to the Women's College World Series.
Head coach Larissa Anderson said it's not about the stats or the accolades, though. It's about the time this group got to spend together.
"The wins are great, going to Super Regionals are great, but it's the standards of their work ethic, their discipline, their self-motivation, their trusting the process," she said.
MU fought until the very end of Sunday's nine inning thriller against Duke. A ticket to Oklahoma City was on the line, but, in the end, it came down to fighting for another minute together.
"Everyone on this team would die for each other," senior Jenna Laird said. "I would take this result over and over again if it mean I got to play with [this team] again."
