Three more Tigers taken on day three totals six Mizzou NFL Draft picks

DETROIT, Mich. (KMIZ)

Mizzou football finished with six draft selections in the 2024 NFL Draft, on Saturday, after three more Tigers were taken on the third and final day of action.

First, offensive lineman Javon Foster became the fourth Mizzou alum taken off the board. The Jacksonville Jaguars picked the Michigan-native with the 114th overall pick in the fourth round.

Foster will join former Mizzou standout Mitch Morse on the offense line, as they work to protect former Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Foster is the third Tiger drafted by the Jags and the first since quarterback Blaine Gabbert when he was take in round one in 2011.

The Mizzou offensive lineman was a three-year starter in Columbia, ending his collegiate career starting 38-straight games at left tackle. He was a 2023 First-Team All-SEC selection in 2023, as well as a Third-Team All-America selection. Foster's unit allowed just 1.67 sacks per game and scored on 54-of-55 trips to the red zone in 2023.

After Foster came off the board, MU cornerback Kris Abrams-Draine, 'KAD', got a phone call from a Denver area code. The Broncos took 'KAD' at No. 145 overall in the fifth round.

Abrams-Draine actually started his career at Mizzou as a wide receiver, before moving over to defensive back. In that role, he played in 39 games and made 35 starts in Columbia. He totaled 135 career tackles, along with 40 passes defended, seven interceptions and 3.5 tackles for loss.

He ended the 11-2 2023 campaign as a Second-Team all-American and a First-Team All-SEC selection. Abrams-Draine was also a Jim Thorpe Award finalist, which is awarded to the top defensive back in college football.

'KAD' led the Southeastern Conference and ranked fifth in the country in passes defended, with 16 in his final college season. He also became the first Tiger to tally an interception in three-straight games since Aarion Penton did it in 2016.

Just minutes after Abrams-Draine got a phone call, so did fellow defensive back Jaylon Carlies. He is headed to Indianapolis, after the Colts picked him up with the 151st selection in the fifth round.

Carlies is projected to move over to linebacker in the NFL and marked the sixth Tiger taken in the 2024 NFL Draft.

The 6-foot-3, 219 pound DB appeared in 48 games in his MU career, 40 of which were starts. He ended his Tiger career with 221 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, nine interceptions, eight pass break-ups, three forced fumbles and three sacks.

In 2023, he led his defense in tackles, with 64, and in solo stops, with 38. The Florida-native also contributed to a takeaway with a forced fumble, a recovery or an interception in four of Mizzou's last six contests. He was a consistent force over the course of quite a few seasons for MU, though, as he led the team in interceptions in 2021 and 2022 and led in tackles in 2022 and 2023.
