Mizzou’s Hopper drafted in the third round by Green Bay

DETROIT, Mich. (KMIZ)

Mizzou linebacker Ty'Ron Hopper became the third Tiger alum to be taken in the 2024 NFL Draft, on Friday night. The Green Bay Packers picked up Hopper with the No. 91 overall pick in the third round.

Hopper transferred to MU from Florida ahead of his junior season. He spent three years with the Gators and saw game action on both defense and special teams in all 13 games in 2021.

However, his career hit new heights when he came to Columbia. In his first season under head coach Eli Drinkwitz, in 2022, he started in 12 of the 13 games he played in. Hopper finished the season second on the team with 77 total tackles and led the team with 14 tackles for loss, along with six QB hurries.

In his senior campaign, in 2023, Hopper tallied 55 total tackles through 10 games for the Mizzou defense. His final hurrah, sadly, got cut short in November due to a foot injury. That caused him to stay on the sideline for MU's final two games.

He was a second-team All-SEC selection and also named one of five finalists for the Butkus Award, which honors the nation's most outstanding linebacker. He is just the third Tiger to earn finalist honors for that award, joining Nick Bolton (2020) and Sean Weatherspoon (2008 and 2009).

Hopper joins his teammates Ennis Rakestraw and Darius Robinson in Tigers to get drafted in 2024.
