Mizzou guard becomes sixth Tiger to enter transfer portal

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

On Tuesday, a team spokesperson confirmed that Mizzou men's basketball guard Kaleb Brown entered his name into the transfer portal. Brown is now the sixth player from the 2023-24 campaign to come to that decision.

Brown, the brother of former Tiger star and current NBA player Kobe Brown, spent three seasons in Columbia. He will have one more year of eligibility left to use at another program.

His playing time saw some ups and downs in his career. He was ruled out for the season for all of the 2023-24 campaign due to a shin injury. During his sophomore year, in 2022-23, he played in 11 total games and totaled nine points, six steals, five assists and four rebounds during that season.

Much like his brother, he decided to stay on through the coaching change, as MU hired current head coach Dennis Gates, following his freshman year. Brown was recruited by former head coach Cuonzo Martin and played under him during his freshman season.

In 2021-22, the Alabama-native got into 27 games, averaging 9.6 minutes per game. He totaled nine points, 40 rebounds, 30 assists and five blocks during that campaign.

It's actually not the first time that Brown has entered the transfer portal. He did it ahead of his junior season, but decided to stay on with Coach Gates, before he was ruled out with an injury.

Brown joins Mabor Majak, Jesus Carralero-Martin, Curt Lewis, John Tonje and Jordan Butler in players to hit the portal during the offseason, after Mizzou's 0-18 finish in SEC action.
