Mizzou baseball completes season sweep over Missouri State
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Mizzou baseball team's 10-6 win over Missouri State at Taylor Stadium, on Tuesday night, completed a season sweep over the Bears. First-year skipper Kerrick Jackson and company took two-straight against MO State over the past two weeks to go 2-0 against the in-state foe.
The bats were live for MU in the win. The Tigers scored 10 runs on nine hits, with Mateo Serna leading the charge. The freshman hit a grand slam in the sixth inning to put his team up by five runs over the Bears. Serna led the team with five total RBI.
He wasn't the only Tiger to hit a home run, though. Wake Forest transfer Danny Corona knocked out his first homer as a Tiger in the fourth inning, as he's now started in three-straight games for Coach Jackson.
On the hill, Daniel Wissler earned the win to improve to 3-1 in 2024, after he came in in relief for starter Bryce Mayer. Wissler threw for three innings, allowing two runs on three hits, in addition to sitting down four batters.
It was a quality start for Mayer, a St. Francis Borgia alum. He went four innings into the win and threw six strikeouts, not allowing a run on five hits.
Up next - Mizzou will travel to Knoxville to take on No. 3 Tennessee. The first game of the three-game series is on Thursday, April 25. First pitch is slated for 6 p.m.
