No. 11 Mizzou softball drops series opener to No. 19 Arkansas
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KMIZ)
The No. 11 Mizzou softball team couldn't get back into the win column on Friday night. The No. 19 Arkansas Razorbacks topped the Tigers 5-2 to take a one-game advantage in the weekend series.
The loss dropped MU to 29-9 overall and 4-6 in SEC action. The Tigers have lost two-straight after a surprising mid-week 1-0 loss to Southeast Missouri State on Wednesday.
Sophomore pitcher Cierra Harrison got the start in the circle and it was a bit of a rocky one. She allowed all five of the Hogs' runs on seven hits in 3.2 innings of work. She was handed the loss and dropped to 10-2 overall in 2024.
Pitchers Lily Whiten and Nathalie Touchet combined for a shutout for the rest of the game.
Rock Bridge alum Abby Hay was the only Tiger to tally an RBI at the dish at Bogle Park. She hit her first-career home run in the seventh inning to cut the deficit to three.
Up next - Head coach Larissa Anderson and company will look to even up the series in game two on Saturday. First pitch is slated for 12 p.m. in Fayetteville.
