Five homers lift Royals to series salvaging win over the Twins
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)
Thanks to a five home run, 14-hit day for the Royals, the first series of the 2024 season did not end in a sweep for the Minnesota Twins. Kansas City shutout Minnesota 11-0 on Sunday afternoon, but still lost the series 2-1.
It was a highlight reel kind of day at Kauffman Stadium, spanning from the dish to the mound.
Salvador Perez, Kyle Isbel, Maikel Garcia, Bobby Witt Jr. and Nelson Valazquez all hit home runs in the series finale, however, despite that balanced attack at the plate, Witt Jr. did still shine the brightest.
The shortstop led the charge, offensively, going 3-for-5 with one RBI and three runs. Witt Jr. also finished just a double shy of hitting for the cycle.
On the hill, Brady Singer earned a win in his first start of 2024. He threw for seven innings and struck out 10 batters, allowing just three hits.
Up next - Kansas City will meet the Baltimore Orioles on the road on Monday, April 1. First pitch is set for 5:35 p.m.
