COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

One of baseball's biggest stars is embroiled in a scandal the MLB hasn't seen since Pete Rose.

Dodgers superstar Shohei Ohtani on Monday denied that he ever participated in any sports gambling, amid a scandal involving allegations that his interpreter stole money from him and placed bets on games.

Ohtani’s longtime interpreter Ippei Mizuhara was fired on Friday. Ohtani on Monday claimed Mizuhara was stealing from him.

A CNN article states at least $4.5 million was withdrawn from Ohtani’s bank accounts. Ohtani’s attorneys have not detailed how they believe the funds were stolen.
