Mizzou baseball drops second-straight home game

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Mizzou baseball team lost its second-straight game at Taylor Stadium, on Friday night, 3-1 to Northern Kentucky. First year head coach Kerrick Jackson has not won a home game, yet, in his debut season.

Northern Kentucky's three-run home run in the first inning, along with a lights out performance on the bump propelled the Norse to a victory. Northern Kentucky pitcher Tanner Gillis tossed for six innings, allowing just one Mizzou run on a wild pitch. Nick McClanahan closed out the night with six strikeouts over three innings of one-hit relief.

Despite the first inning home run, Bryce Mayer ended up putting out a solid performance on the mound. He and fellow junior Javyn Pimental blanked Northern Kentucky for the final eight innings, allowing just three hits and throwing 11 strikeouts.

Up next - The Tigers and Norse continue their series with a 2 p.m. game Saturday at Taylor Stadium.
