No. 7 Mizzou wrestling drops regular season finale to No. 5 Iowa State

AMES, Iowa (KMIZ)

The No. 7 Mizzou wrestling team ended the regular season on a two-meet losing streak, courtesy of a 41-3 loss to No. 5 Iowa State, on Sunday. MU will head into postseason action 10-4 overall and 6-3 in conference play.

Head coach Brian Smith and company opened up the final weekend of the regular season with a 31-6 loss to No. 16 Northern Iowa, on Friday, Feb. 23. It didn't end up much better with the crushing loss to the Cyclones, however, it's important to note that the Tigers were very shorthanded headed into closing weekend.

Smith released a statement, on Thursday, saying that his group would have a limited lineup for the weekend, due to injury and illness. He said the focus is on getting healthy for the Big 12 Championships, which start on Saturday, March 9 in Oklahoma.

In Sunday's loss to Iowa State, only one Tiger came out on top on their bout. You can find the full its of results below.
