COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
It's crosstown showdown time in Columbia. The Hickman girls and boys basketball teams will host the Battle Spartans in CMAC action, on Friday night. The girls will tip off first, at 6 p.m., followed by the boys game at 7:30 p.m.
Each of the girls team will be looking for their first crosstown win of the season, as both of the squads lost to Rock Bridge earlier in the season.
The Hickman girls comes into Friday night's matchup 17-7 overall in the 2023-24 season. The Kewpies will, however, be looking to get back into the win column after taking a loss to a good Cardinal Ritter team, 53-52, on Saturday.
On the other side, the Battle girls will walk into Hickman High School with a 15-9 record on the year. The Spartans, led by head coach Dustyn Yung, are riding a two-game win streak, as well, following victories over Jefferson City and Montgomery County over the past week.
The boys will tip off at 7:30 p.m., as both squads will be looking for a bounce back win on Friday night.
The Kewpie boys are coming into the Columbia-based showdown off of a loss to another crosstown foe, the Rock Bridge Bruins, on Tuesday night. Overall, Hickman is 17-6 in 2023-24, with a 3-2 CMAC record.
The Battle boys have been one of the teams to watch in the conference, as well. The group will enter Friday night's game with a 18-5 overall record and an undefeated, 3-0, record in the CMAC this season.
The games will each be broadcasted live on KZOU and streamed on the ABC 17 website.
