Mizzou gymnastics checks in at No. 12 in latest Road to Nationals rankings

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Mizzou gymnastics team came in at No. 12 in the latest Road To Nationals standings, on Monday, after winning the squad's third-straight meet over the weekend. MU's 6-1 start to the year is the best start to a season since 2010.

Head coach Shannon Welker's group did drop a few spots, out of the top-10, from the week prior, but they will return to SEC competition on Friday, Feb. 9 in Lexington, Kentucky.

MU will face the Wildcats, fresh off of a win against Texas Woman's University. In that victory, MU surpassed the 197 mark, once again, a feat that the Tigers have achieved in every meet in 2024. Welker's group averages a team score of 197.025 approaching the midway point of the season.

Mizzou is also ranked highly on a few apparatuses. The Tigers held their No. 6 ranking on the floor, making it their best event with a 49.465 season average. On the vault, Welker's group cracked the top-10, coming in a No. 9 overall. They also moved up one spot on the bar rankings, tying with both Minnesota and Auburn, at No. 15.

Several Tigers also cracked the top-25 in individual rankings, with junior Jocelyn Moore ranked the highest out of all of her teammates. You can find the full list below.

  • Jocelyn Moore - No. 8 on floor
  • Kennedy Griffin - No. 21 on floor
  • Hannah Horton - No. 21 on vault
  • Amari Celestine - No. 21 on vault

Up next - Mizzou will continue its road trip with a stop in Lexington, Kentucky. The Tigers will face the No. 5 Wildcats on Friday, Feb. 9. First touch is slated for 6 p.m. at Rupp Arena.
