Kansas City Chiefs tackle Super Bowl LVIII Opening Night in Las Vegas
LAS VEGAS, Nevada. (KMIZ)
Super Bowl LVIII week is officially in full swing, after Monday night's festivities at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. The Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers took the main stage to answer questions from a media frenzy at the annual Opening Night celebration.
The reigning Super Bowl champions were greeted with a mass of boo's from San Francisco fans, as KC took questions in the sin city. It was plain as day that the Chiefs have shifted into the villain role, headed into the team's fourth Super Bowl in five seasons.
Quarterback Patrick Mahomes, star tight end Travis Kelce, Mizzou alum Nick Bolton and many other Chiefs stars took to the lecterns and were peppered with every question under the sun, with the vast majority not being of the serious nature.
Opening Night is rarely about the x's and o's, but more about seeing the personality of those football stars. The media asked players everything from their favorite Taylor Swift song, what their wrestler name would be, what they got their significant others for Valentine's Day and everything in between.
With the start of Super Bowl week in the books, each team will retreat to their respective hotels for more tame media availabilities. The Chiefs and the 49ers will each meet with media members at the team hotels on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, while also fitting in normal game week practices.
Meanwhile, Friday and Saturday are devoted for the team's to have a media break before Super Bowl Sunday. The big game is set to kick off at 5:30 p.m. CT.
The ABC 17 Sports Director Nathalie Jones and News Anchor Lucas Geisler will be live in Las Vegas, beginning on Wednesday, Feb. 7. Their live coverage will run through Super Bowl Sunday, on Feb. 11.
