No. 3 Mizzou gymnastics falls short on the road against No. 4 Alabama

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (KMIZ)

Despite securing two event titles in Tuscaloosa, on Friday night, the No. 3 Mizzou gymnastics team fell short against the No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide at Coleman Coliseum. The Tide topped the Tigers 197.225-196.475.

It is head coach Shannon Welker and company's first loss of 2024, as the team's record falls to 3-1 overall and 0-1 in SEC action.

Junior Jocelyn Moore and veteran Sienna Schreiber each captured event titles in the loss. Moore recorded a 9.925 on the vault and Schreiber stunned with a 9.950 to anchor MU on the beam.

Schreiber's win marks her third-consecutive score of at least 9.9, dating back to the 2023 NCAA Los Angeles Regional Final.

Up next - Mizzou will hit the road to Athens for a meeting with the No. 15 Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday, Jan. 20. The meet is slated to start at 1 p.m.
