Mizzou women fall to 0-2 in conference play with home loss to Alabama
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Mizzou women's basketball team remained winless in conference play, on Sunday, with a 79-64 loss to Alabama at home. With that loss, the Tigers dropped to 9-6 on the season.
You can watch the full postgame press conference with head coach Robin Pingeton and players in the video player below.
Pingeton and company got behind early, but quickly made it a tight game in the later part of the first half, down by just one at multiple points in the game. In the end, sharp 3-point shooting from the Crimson Tide helped lift them to a win at Mizzou Arena.
Alabama hit 15 3-pointers on 50 percent shooting from beyond the arc.
Five Tigers got into double-digit scoring in the loss, with fifth year forward Hayley Frank leading the charge with 15 points. Sophomore Ashton Judd, freshman Grace Slaughter, freshman Abby Schreacke and senior Mama Dembele were right behind her with 10 points or more, as well.
One point of concern moving forward will be the status of Dembele. The standout guard went down with an injury and was helped off the court near the conclusion of Sunday's game. There is no update on her condition, yet.
Up next - Mizzou will stay home to No. 1 South Carolina on Thursday, Jan. 11. Tip off is slated for 7 p.m.
