Mizzou kicker declares for the NFL Draft

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Mizzou kicker Harrison Mevis, fondly known as the 'Thicker Kicker,' made it official and declared for the NFL Draft, on Saturday. He is the ninth Tiger to declare for the draft, so far.

The man who's provided quite a few memorable moments to Tiger football fans will look to take his leg talent to the next level, after a four year career in Columbia.

Mevis put together quite a stat sheet in his final season in the black and gold, including two game-winning field goals. The first came against then-No. 15 Kansas State in a field-storming win at Faurot Field. The second in a thriller against Florida to cap off his time at Memorial Stadium.

He was no stranger to the big kick. Mevis holds the program record for 50-plus-yard field goals, with 86. He also made the longest kick in SEC history with that win over Kansas State, with a 61-yard boot.

All-in-all in his time in CoMo, he totaled 49 game appearances and went 145-146 on PAT attempts and went 86-103 on field goal attempts. The Thicker Kicker also is also MU's all-time leading points scorer. He earned that honor with a kick in the loss at Georgia in November.

"First and foremost, I would like to thank God for giving me the ability to play the sport that I love," he wrote on social media. "My years at Mizzou have been filled with so many incredible moments that I will cherish forever. I want to thank Coach Drinkwitz for believing in me. I am blessed to have played for this great university for the last 4 years. I also want to thank all the coaches and strength staff who have been a part of my journey."
