Darius Robinson declares for the NFL Draft
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Star defensive end Darius Robinson is headed to the NFL Draft. The longtime Mizzou player made the announcement on New Year's Day.
"My five years at Mizzou have been filled with unforgettable moments, fostering a culture and brotherhood that created irreplaceable bonds," he said on social media. "Big thanks to everyone who contributed to my journey - staff, coaches, strength coaches, nutritionists, trainers, and all who played a role in shaping me into the player I am today."
The Michigan-native ended his career on top, with MU's first Cotton Bowl win in about a decade. Just days after that win, his made the official announcement on his next move.
Robinson will end his time in Columbia as an all-timer for fans. He was a First-Team All-SEC selection, on both the AP and coaches polls, despite battling through an injury for much of the season and making the move from defensive tackle to defense end, in 2023.
He was a part of a Tiger defense that allowed just 125 yards per game, which ranked sixth in the Southeastern Conference and fifth nationally. Robinson was a big contributor to that success with 41 total tackles, 7.5 sacks and 12 tackles for loss in his final season in Columbia. He added on five QB hurries and a forced fumble to help Mizzou to its first 11-win season since 2014.
DRob, as he's fondly known, has been a Tiger his whole career, first joining the team when former head coach Barry Odom was at the helm. He stuck with Eli Drinkwitz and battled through some .500 seasons to end his career with a good Tiger foundation.
The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich. on April 25-27.
