Chiefs snap a two-game skid with win over the Patriots
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (KMIZ)
The Kansas City Chiefs are back in the win column after a road trip out east to meet a struggling New England Patriots squad. KC got past New England, 27-17, to improve to 9-5 in 2023.
The Chiefs, once again, overcame some turnovers to get the victory at Gillette Stadium. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes threw a couple interceptions, which marked the third straight game that the reigning MVP has thrown a pick. He's thrown an INT in four out of the last five outings and Sunday marked his third multi-interception game of the season.
Despite the turnovers, Mahomes completed 72 percent of his passes for 305 yards and two touchdowns, one to Jerick McKinnon in the first half and the other Clyde Edwards-Helaire in the second half. KC struck first in New England courtesy of a trick play from head coach Andy Reid. McKinnon took a direct snap and flipped it wide receiver Rashee Rice for a touchdown to make it at 7-0 ball game in the first quarter.
Defensively, L'Jarius Sneed led the attack for Kansas City. He led the team with nine total tackles, two of which were for a loss.
Up next - the Chiefs will return home to GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium to host the Las Vegas Raiders on Christmas day. Kickoff will be at 12:00 p.m. on December 25.
