Mizzou lands commitment from Georgia State running back

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Mizzou football coach Eli Drinkwitz landed a commitment from ex-Georgia State running back Marcus Carroll, on Monday morning.

The Georgia-native ranked No. 7 in the FBS in his senior season 1,350 rushing yards on 274 carries, along with 13 touchdowns. He also was a threat in the passing game, catching 23 passes for 234 yards and also earning himself a first-team All-Sun Belt selection.

He spent four years at Georgia State and will have one year of eligibility left to use at Mizzou. In his time with the Panthers, he played in 40 games and rushed for a career total of 2,136 yards and 22 touchdowns, averaging about four yards per carry.

The running back will be coming Columbia at the exact time that the current bell cow, graduate Cody Schrader, is hanging up the college cleats. Schrader played his last year of eligibility in 2023 and also took the vast majority of snaps for MU in his final season.

Carroll was just visiting Columbia over the weekend and didn't take long to announce his commitment, after that official visit wrapped up. It is Coach Drinkwitz's first offensive addition from the portal in 2023.

Coach Eli's first portal addition came on Dec. 6 when the No. 1 cornerback in the nation, ex-Clemson player Toriano Pride, committed to the Columbia-Tigers.
