KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Another highlight reel day from the dynamic duo of Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce helped lift the Kansas City Chiefs to a 31-17 win over the Los Angeles Chargers, on Sunday. With the win, KC has two victories over AFC West opponents in 2023. The only team left to face is the Las Vegas Raiders, in Nov.

Mahomes and Kelce connected 12 times for 179 yards, 143 of those coming in the first half alone, and a touchdown. Mahomes, himself, completed about 76 percent of his passes for more than 420 yards, four touchdowns and one interception.

The Kansas City offense shined in the first half, putting up 24 points on L.A., however the defense was the story of the second half. After allowing 17 points in the first two quarters, that group didn't let the Chargers score any points after halftime.

Mizzou alum linebacker Nick Bolton led the Chiefs with nine total tackles on Sunday, however, he left the game with an apparent injury to his left hand. The broadcasted reported that he is getting X-rays done, but there is no update on the result yet.

Wide receiver Mecole Hardman, back in Kansas City after a trade with the New York Jets, also made a second half contribution in his first game back in KC. He ran back a 50-yard punt return to set up Kelce's final touchdown of the day, which put the nail in the win for the Chiefs.

Up next - Kansas City will travel to Denver for the team's second meeting with the Broncos in three weeks. Kick off is set for 3:25 p.m.
