RECAP: Mizzou football starts 1-0, as one quarterback has a ‘leg up’ in the competition

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Mizzou football team started the 2023 season off 1-0, with a 35-10 win over South Dakota on Thursday night.

The biggest story line headed into that game was the ongoing competition between the quarterbacks: returning starter Brady Cook and redshirt freshman Sam Horn. Cook started the first half, while Horn took on the second. Overall, Cook came out with the superior stat line, going 17-for-21 with 172 yards and two touchdowns.

"The blink assessment would be that Brady played a more consistent first half," head coach Eli Drinkwitz said after the win. "He [Brady Cook] has a leg up on it, that's why he went out there first."
