Mizzou volleyball gets swept in hard-fought match against No. 3 Louisville
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
The Mizzou volleyball team lost its first game of the head coach Dawn Sullivan era on Sunday afternoon. No. 3 Louisville swept MU in three sets to drop the Tigers to 5-1 on the season.
The Cardinals dominated Mizzou in the first set, winning 25-10, however, the two sets that followed were very competitive. Sullivan and company were within five points in each of those final two loses.
St. Louis-native Jordan Iliff led the Tigers with nine kills in the match on a .346 kill percentage. She was followed up closely by Arizona-transfer Dilara Gedikoglu, who racked up seven kills on the afternoon.
Louisville's Cara Cresse and Anna Debeer were a handful for the Tigers. Each of them finished with a co-team high of 12 kills for the Cardinals. Mizzou football running backs coach Curtis Luper's daughter also plays at Louisville. Charitie Luper finished with eight kills against MU.
Up next - Mizzou will hit the road for the first time in 2023. The Tigers will compete in the Xavier Tournament, starting on Friday, Sept. 8. Game one against Buffalo is slated for 10 a.m.
